In order to maintain faith in a religion, one must develop methods to quickly shut down logical thought.

When I was a Christian, it was usually the thought, “some things we simply cannot understand.” Whenever my brain would stray to logical thought about the many contradictions in the Bible, the silliness of creationism, or the horrendous concept of eternal punishment, I would use that phrase to stop thinking and move on.
